21st scarecrow contest under way in Ligonier Kathy Brown (left) and Cheryl McMullen puts the finishing touches on her scarecrow entry for the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce's 21st Scarecrow Contest that got under way last weekend. More than 20 lamp posts are decorated with different scarecrows by Ligonier organizations, businesses, school groups and individuals. They will be on display through Wednesday. Cash prizes, courtesy of Loyalhanna Realty, will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners. The “Community Favorite” will be named by popular vote. Ballots are availalbe at the chamber office.
