A 23-year-old McKeesport man was shot at the Hi View Gardens apartment complex in McKeesport on Thursday night.

McKeesport police Chief Bryan Washowich said the victim was transported by McKeesport Ambulance Rescue Service to a Pittsburgh trauma center after being shot in the midsection inside Building 733.

The call for the shooting came in at 11:06 p.m.

Washowich said he did not want to speculate if the injury was life-threatening. He said investigators will review video surveillance footage from the buildings.

Allegheny County police were notified of the incident.

McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko called the incident disheartening.

“It's extremely disheartening to receive these calls in the middle of the night and to find out another young man has been shot,” Cherepko said. “Obviously, in light of recent events, we actually have had extra patrols out, and to have this still take place is what's absolutely unbelievably frustrating.”

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact McKeesport police at 412-675-5015.

This marks the fourth person shot within the last two weeks.

Two people were hospitalized with injuries officials said were not life-threatening as a result of separate shootings on Monday.

One occurred early that morning at Oakland Avenue and McCleary Street when a 54-year-old woman who was a passenger in an automobile was hit in the foot.

The second happened at noon, when a 25-year-old man was hit in both knees as he sat on a step in front of an apartment unit in building 43 of Crawford Village.

Emmanuel White, 16, of McKeesport, was shot and wounded last week. He died at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on Monday from a gunshot to the neck suffered around 8:10 p.m. on Nov. 29 near the intersection of Craig and Brownlee streets near Crawford Village, an Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office spokesman said.

Police have said White, who is from Harrison Village, may have been involved in an ongoing feud between young men from that neighborhood and others in Crawford Village. Police also have said they believe the shooting was drug-related.
