Repairs to the Agatha Street Bridge in Pitcairn are near completion.

“The construction process itself is going very smoothly,” Pitcairn engineer Don Black said at a last week's borough council meeting.

Crews stabilized the lower portion of the bridge, and it should take about a month to restore the surface, assuming the weather cooperates, Black said.

Borough officials expect to receive about $185,000 from Allegheny County for the project, borough manager Malisa Migliori said. Migliori said the total cost of the project can't be determined until the project is complete.

Because the bridge is near the Propel Pitcairn school, borough and school officials have rerouted school buses and local traffic during the construction, said Angela Gaitaniella, spokeswoman for Propel Pitcairn.

“Traffic will resume as normal when the project is finished,” Gaitaniella said.
