Monroeville area candidates file for primary races
As the 2013 primary approaches, voters in Monroeville and Pitcairn can begin to evaluate the work of their elected officials in recent years.
Elected officials were faced with tumultuous budgets in recent years, amidst the lingering effects of a nationwide recession, while personnel moves within the Gateway School District and the municipality of Monroeville were criticized by some residents and defended by others.
The following Monroeville and Pitcairn residents have filed petitions with Allegheny County to campaign for local office in the primary on May 21. The list is unofficial until the petitions are certified by the Elections Division.
The nominees will advance to the general election Nov. 5. The winners assume their new positions on Jan. 1, 2014.
