Three Mid-Mon Valley residents suffered injuries after a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening at Exit 41 along Interstate 70 West.

State police said Robert and Carol Cochran of Charleroi were driving in the right lane at approximately 7 p.m. when a Jeep driven by Jack Bridge Jr., 42, of Belle Vernon sped from the on-ramp from Route 906, spun out and hit the Cochran's Chevrolet sedan almost nose-to-nose.

Police said Bridge was unconscious when firefighters and paramedics placed him in the ambulance. Carol Cochran was the last to leave the scene via ambulance and was able to stand but appeared shaken.

The Cochrans were taken to UPMC-Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. A spokeswomen at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Township said Bridge was treated and released.

Police indicated charges may be pending against Bridge pending an investigation of witness accounts.

Both vehicles were towed away via flatbed while police and firefighters restricted traffic to a single lane following a nearly 30-minute backup along Interstate 70.

Along with state police, Rostraver Central fire company and Rostraver/West Newton Emergency Services responded to the accident.
