Plans are underway to establish a glass museum in Mt. Pleasant.

It will celebrate Bryce Glass, Lenox Glass and L.E. Smith Glass.

The possible expansion into other glass companies in the region is also a possibility.

We will hold a small exhibit at the In Town Shops through to the end of the year.

The exhibit will open in mid-November.

There will be an announcement. We will also have a small gift shop.

In order to create this museum we need everything: a desk, a couple of chairs, display cases, computer and printer, a telephone, anyone with a vehicle to haul items, pro bono legal advice, pro bono Internet services for the next two months.

We also need volunteers to do everything from keeping the books to using excel to keep records, to organizing membership and donor attempts, to giving us time to man the daily exhibit.

We also need seed money to keep us going until we can stand on our own.

If we feel that we have enough support by Dec. 31 we will keep the exhibit going.

If we do not we will close the exhibit and continue working to get the museum on its feet while creating occasional exhibits.

This museum will celebrate one of the stellar industries of Mt. Pleasant.

Until we get a telephone, we can be reached at the In Town Shops occasionally on Mondays through Fridays. In November, the regular hours there will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., six days a week, and one evening a week to be determined.
