Ebon P.D. Brown, 28, of Penn Hills, was sentenced to more than seven years in jail following a conviction of violating federal firearms laws, U.S. Justice Department officials announced Monday.

Brown was charged after members of the Pittsburgh Police Impact Unit observed him removing an object from his waistband and hiding it under his car seat. The object was found to be a 9mm semiautomatic handgun loaded with 10 rounds.

Brown recently finished a 14-month sentence for violating his federal supervised release, after serving time at a New Jersey prison.
