Wates will headline Penn Hills Coffeehouse on Wednesday

Rupert Wates is one of four performers at the Penn Hills Coffeehouse Songwriter's Showcase, which will take place Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Penn Hebron Garden Club on Jefferson Road.

'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Rupert Wates will be the featured performer at the May 8 Penn Hills Coffeehouse songwriter's showcase.

Wates is a songwriter from London. He has released five solo albums and garnered more than 25 songwriting awards since 2007.

The showcase will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Penn Hebron Garden Club, located at 237 Jefferson Road. Tom & Carolyn and Penn Hills Progress Editor Patrick Varine will also perform.
