O'Hara Township-based Massaro CM Services will begin work as the construction manager for an estimated $30-million remodelling project that is being considered for Penn-Trafford High School.
The school board voted 8-0 on Jan. 14 to pay Massaro $70,000 for the design and bidding phases of the project and $20,500 per month during the construction and close-out phases.
Massaro has worked on projects in the Chartiers Valley, Bethel Park, Woodland Hills and Blackhawk school districts.
Superintendent Tom Butler said the goal is to have a preliminary design available to show to the public by the fall. Construction could begin in spring or summer of 2014.
Hirings
The school board approved the following hirings:
• Jamie Buzzard, third-grade teacher at Sunrise Elementary School, $42,300.
• Nicklas Campero, chemistry and biology teacher at Penn-Trafford High School, $44,800.
• Sara Oliver and Dorothy Sullivan, student learning assistants, each at $13,500.
School calendar
Earlier this month, board members adopted the 2013-14 school calendar.
Classes will begin on Aug. 22 and end on May 23, barring cancellations for weather or emergencies.
