Claim to fame: Tufts University recruit Ross had three goals and three assists in a 13-8 win over Seneca Valley on May 1 and had five goals and five assists in a 14-12 loss to Pine-Richland on May 3. Ross got Sewickley back on track a day later with another five-goal, five-assist game in a 13-7 win over Franklin Regional. Ross, who is a standout tennis player, was a first-team All-American as a junior.
What did you like about Tufts that prompted you to commit? "I did an overnight visit in the fall, and I really liked the campus and the people on the campus. I liked my future coach. She's really awesome so I'm excited to go there next year."
Do you have a major in mind? "I'm thinking of going premed. It's just something rewarding to do with the rest of your life. It's constantly changing and evolving with technology."
Has the coaching staff given you any idea what they expect from you coming in as a freshman? "Not much. The class above me is a class of 10; there's four freshmen in my class. We have a small class with some positions available. She wants the freshman to get some experience with having such a young team."
How difficult was it for you to pick between playing tennis and lacrosse at the next level? "Lacrosse is always my definite, true passion. I love playing it. Tennis is something I did just for fun when I was younger. I ended up loving it, too. I always knew it'd be lacrosse."
What has been the highlight of your high school career? "Winning both the state championships in tennis. Nothing can really compare to that. During lacrosse we had so many great runs winning WPIAL championships. Making it to that first round of states was great, too. I couldn't pick between the two of them."
