'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Baldwin Township leaders are trying to steer more people to the municipality's website for updates on community happenings and an electronic newsletter, Manager Rob Zahorchak told commissioners last week.

Children from the township will be circulating this week, passing out pamphlets to nearly all 800 households and alerting residents to the latest happenings, Commissioner Susan Snyder said. More specifically, the pamphlets will instruct residents to use the township website — www.baldwintownship.com — more often, she said.

Castle Shannon carnival

The annual Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Company Carnival will be held from July 29 through Aug. 3 starting at 7 p.m. each day, Baldwin Township commissioners reminded their residents last week.

The Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Company also serves Baldwin Township.
