Road paving causes traffic restrictions in South Hills

Saturday, July 6, 2013, 9:18 p.m.

Temporary traffic restrictions will be in effect Tuesday, July 9 to allow for the final paving of the Brownsville, Broughton and Curry Hollow roads intersection, Allegheny County Department of Public Works officials said.

The work is scheduled to run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists should expect changing traffic patterns and temporary stoppages on both north and south bound lanes.

The paving will be done at the intersections at Sixth and Brownsville Road and Brownsville Road and Curry Hollow Road.

Police departments from South Park Township and Baldwin Borough will be controlling traffic with flaggers in these intersections for the one-day operation.

The Brownsville/Broughton/Curry Hollow Intersection Project, in cooperation with PennDOT District 11, has included mine grouting, intersection realignment, reconstruction, widening and reconstruction and extension of a concrete arch culvert. Improvements to drainage, curbs, sidewalks, traffic signals and more also have been made.

Work will conclude this fall.

The prime contractor is Frank J. Zottola Construction, Inc. of Valencia.
