Lower Tyrone Township supervisors to meet

Lower Tyrone Township supervisors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Brownfield Community Center.
Food bank dates for the month of April are as follows: East Liberty Presbyterian Church of Vanderbilt will hold its food distribution from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. Leisenring Presbyterian Church will hold its food pantry from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. April 18.
The High Ryder band will be featured at Brownfield Community Center from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday. Information about the band and current schedule is available at www.thehighryderband.com/members.html
Dawson Volunteer Fire Co. is currently selling tickets for two fundraisers. The first is a ticket for $1,400 to be drawn on the 7 p.m. Pennsylvania Daily Number April 28. Cost is $2 per ticket. The second event is a gun bash to be held from noon until 4 p.m. May 12. Tickets are $10 each and includes food, beverage and 17 chances for prizes of cash and firearms. Tickets can be obtained from Dawson VFC members, at Sweet Peas in Vanderbilt or by stopping by the Tuesday evening bingo games. You can also give me a call at 724-398-3118.
Every Tuesday night at 6:30, the Brownfield Community Center, 291 Banning Road, Dawson, will hold a country, gospel, folk and bluegrass jam. Players of all levels welcome. Electric and acoustic instrumentalists get together and have fun singing and playing. Don't play -- that's OK, visitors are welcome to come, listen and sing. Microphones and electric hookups are provided. Everyone is welcome to play on stage or just step up to the microphone and join in. For more information, call the center at 724-529-2930.
Tri-Town Historical Society will sell salad plates on Election Day, April 24 at the Vanderbilt Methodist Church. The plates will contain several popular salads as well as dessert. They will be pre-sold and also sold at the church. Cost is $7 per plate. Delivery is available. The membership drive is continuing. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
A belated birthday wish is being set to Angelina Brady of Vanderbilt, who celebrated her 12th birthday on March 31 and a happy belated birthday to Josh Brady, Angelina's brother, who turned 10 on March 11 -- from their mom and dad Robyn and Dan Brady and brother Elijah, and grandparents David and Ginger Brady and Bob and Rosann Puchyr.
Happy birthday greetings go out to Dawson resident Frank Lamanna, who will celebrate his 91st birthday on Friday.
April is Autism Awareness Month. Autism is a strange developmental disorder which will affect approximately one in every 88 children born today. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder. The key to successful treatment is early and proper diagnosis. If you see that your toddler is displaying any symptoms of delayed speech, seems to want to be left alone or engages in repetitive behaviors that cause you to be concerned -- please consult your pediatrician.
