Lent has arrived, and that means fish fries everywhere

Fish fries are scheduled throughout the Valley today, Ash Wednesday, and Fridays during Lent, including:
New Life Baptist Church, 319 N. Second St., 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ash Wednesday and Fridays through Good Friday. Menu: dinner, $7, includes fish (chicken wings may be substituted), fries, coleslaw, or potato salad and bread; sandwich, $6. Al a carte: fries, coleslaw and potato salad.
Citizens Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday and Fridays through March 30. Platters: $8, includes fish, coleslaw, fries (cheese fries 50 cents extra) or substitute haluski, macaroni and cheese or pierogi for the fries; sandwich, $6. A la carte: pierogi, fries, haluski, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese. Pierogi: half dozen, $4; dozen, $7. Condiments available upon request. Bell Township Volunteer Fire Department, 201 Main St., Salina, 4 to 6:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Fridays during Lent, and Good Friday. Dinner: $7, includes choice of hand-breaded fish, shrimp or chicken planks, with fries or pierogi, coleslaw and dessert. eat in or take out. Orders: 724-697-4873.
Holy Family Church, 787 Freeport Road, Creighton, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ash Wednesday and Fridays through March 30. Dinners: baked or fried fish dinner and sandwiches, veggie cod bake, pierogi, haluski, potato dumplings, crepes, macaroni and cheese, meatless stuffed cabbage, Polish croquettes with red borscht, portabella bruschetta, potato pancakes, shrimp and rice, soup of the day, pagach (new item) and baked goods.
