'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Firefighters responded to the South Hills Village Mall this morning after a small fire broke out in a storage area at Macy's.

The 2-alarm fire broke out at about 8:30 a.m., a Bethel Park dispatcher said.

The store was not open at the time, and no steps were taken to evacuate the mall, he said. The store opened slightly after 10 a.m., its normal opening time.

No one was injured, officials said.
