'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

A West Deer man died Saturday morning in a motorcycle crash on Saxonburg Boulevard.

Richard Lutty, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

Lutty reportedly was riding a motorcycle northbound at about 11:30 a.m. when he lost control. He fell from the bike and then slid under a cargo van traveling in the opposite direction, said West Deer patrolman Mike Shurina.

No one in the van was injured.

Shurina said an autopsy is scheduled today.
