A public meeting for residents to learn about a natural gas compressor station expansion and offer comments has been rescheduled for Nov. 13.

The meeting, originally planned for Oct. 30, was postponed due to Hurricane Sandy.

Laurel Mountain Midstream LLC, a joint venture between Williams and Chevron, which operates the Shamrock Compressor Station off New Salem Road, is seeking a permit from the state Department of Environmental Protection to expand operations.

The companies want to install a temporary, natural gas-fired turbine, an emergency generator, an additional dehydrator and a water tank at its compressor station, about a half-mile from New Salem. The station is along the border with Menallen Township.

Residents can ask questions of company officials during the meeting, to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department, 650 Footedale Road.

At 7:30 p.m., a formal hearing will begin so that residents can offer statements about the permit for the public record.
