A Monroeville attorney claims in a federal lawsuit he filed on Monday that he was beaten, subjected to racial slurs and denied medication while being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Harvey Daniels, 72, claims he was held in the jail on Sept. 12 and is seeking $100 million in punitive damages. State court records show that O'Hara police cited Daniels in August for trespassing, but there is no record of him being charged with a crime that would put him in jail.

Daniels couldn't be reached for comment. A county spokeswoman declined comment.
