Airport traffic continues decline in September

Passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport declined 5.1 percent in September compared to the same month a year ago, the Allegheny County Airport Authority said on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh's monthly air traffic decreased year-to-year in 13 of the last 15 months, authority figures show.

Pittsburgh had 640,281 passengers in September, down from 674,959 in September 2011.

AirTran Airways had the biggest year-to-year jump in traffic, at 6.9 percent, while JetBlue Airways' 5.2 percent gain was its eighth straight monthly increase.

For the year to date, air traffic is down 3.5 percent.
