Washington Township residents' property taxes will not increase next year.

The township's $2.65 million budget for 2013 is expected to get a boost from $380,000.in Marcellus shale natural gas drilling impact fees.

That amounts to nearly 15 percent of expected revenue.

Even though next year's budget is slightly larger than this year's, township supervisors were able to retain the real estate tax rate of 12 mills.

Much of the budget will be used for road and bridge projects and for updating the walking trail in Kunkle Park. But supervisors say there aren't any big projects or major changes planned for the coming year.

“Just trying to keep things going,” Supervisor Joe Olszewski said.

Olszewski says the township still must decide which roads will be repaired.
