George Wherry — Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members recently elected him to serve on the organization’s board of directors. He represents a district that includes Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Noteworthy: Pennsylvania Farm Bureau members recently elected Wherry to the organization's state board of directors. He represents a district that includes Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.

Age: 73

Residence: North Bethlehem in Washington County

Family: Wherry's wife of 48 years, Patricia, died in 2009. He has six children and eight grandchildren.

Occupation: Wherry runs a farm with 500 sheep and 30 head of beef cattle.

Background: Wherry served as president of the Washington County Farm Bureau for the past three years and has been a member of the organization for 38 years. He previously served on the Bentworth School Board for 23 years.

Education: Bachelor's degree in animal husbandry from Penn State University.
