South Greensburg Council unveiled a proposed 2013 budget this week that calls for no increase in property taxes but includes a 3 percent hike in residential garbage rates.

Borough council passed the tentative $1.1 million budget on Monday.

Residents would continue to pay 20.77 mills in real estate taxes, but $1 more per quarter for garbage disposal, or $124 annually, under the proposal, borough secretary Lee Kunkle said.

Council hiked the street-opening permit fee from $100 to $250 and the roll-off trash receptacle permit from $10 to $25.

Part-time police officers will get an hourly raise of 50 cents.

Council recommended that Gov. Tom Corbett approve Anthony Henry as borough emergency management coordinator.

Former emergency coordinator Eric Hardy resigned.
