LINESVILLE — Authorities in northwestern Pennsylvania say fire claimed the life of a teenager in his family's home.
Crews in Crawford County were called to the Conneaut Township home at about 1:12 a.m. Friday.
Coroner Scott Schell said the body of 16-year-old Zachary Baker was found in his bedroom.
Schell said an autopsy concluded that he died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
Other family members were able to escape the home, but at least six were taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and other possible injuries.
State police said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but preliminary signs are that it was accidental.
Grief counselors were sent to Conneaut Area Senior High School on Friday to help other students cope with the loss of the 11th-grader.
