Kiski Area School District parents will be able to pay for their children's school lunches online beginning next month.

The school board Monday approved using the Internet site LunchPrepay.com, through which parents will be able to deposit money into their students' accounts. It will be available to students at all grade levels.

Use of the site will be optional, food service Director Meredith Bailey said. Students will be able to pay for meals with cash or checks, she said.

Parents may add money to their child's account using a credit card. A convenience fee of $1.95 per deposit is charged. Money deposited will be available the next day.

Students access the money in the account using a personal identification number, Bailey said.

Parents can also use the site to see what their children are eating, Bailey said.

A letter about the service will be sent home to parents. Bailey said it should be available in December.
