The Highland Park home of Pittsburgh City Councilman Patrick Dowd was burglarized on Monday.

Dowd, 44, said thieves entered his North Euclid Avenue home during the day while his family was out and made off with a laptop computer, jewelry and “a couple of other personal items.”

The councilman said he has filed a police report.

“I'm just happy that nobody was home when the break-in occurred,” said Dowd, who is serving his second term representing District 7. Dowd is married and has five children.
