Jay Bronder, 33, a Monroeville native and second-year medical student at Marshall University in West Virginia, was recently elected to represent medical schools from Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky in the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates.

Noteworthy: Bronder was recently elected as the representative to the American Medical Association's House of Delegates — the organization's primary policy-making body — for the region encompassing medical schools in West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky.

Background: After earning his Master of Business Administration, Bronder worked as a pharmaceutical company representative in Baltimore, where he frequently interacted with doctors and became interested in a career in medicine. At Marshall University, he joined the Medical Student Section of the AMA, representing his school's interests in policy discussions with the organization.

Education: Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, Penn State, 2002; MBA, University of Maryland, 2008; currently a second-year medical student at Marshall
