Pittsburgh police are investigating a complaint by a female high school student that an unidentified teacher at Perry Traditional Academy inappropriately touched her and made sexual comments.

An 18-year-old student at Oliver Citywide Academy on the North Side told police about the incident involving a male teacher, said city police Lt. Kevin Kraus. Police are not naming the teacher because he has not been charged. Kraus said the incident occurred sometime in the last three weeks.

District spokeswoman Heather Hopson released a statement saying that Pittsburgh Public Schools police investigated and turned the case over to city police. The district placed the teacher, who was hired in August, on paid leave beginning Nov. 21.

School board member Jean Fink said district administrators haven't yet brought the matter before the board.
