There were no injuries reported in two fires that erupted minutes apart Wednesday night along Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon.
Firefighters were called around 7:45 p.m. for a chimney fire in a single-family dwelling in the 1000 block of Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon deputy fire chief Joe Thuransky said.
While firefighters were there, a fire was reported seven blocks away in an apartment on the 10th floor of the Twin Towers, a high-rise with mostly elderly residents, in the 300 block of Washington Road, Thuransky said.
Firefighters from several communities responded to the fire that apparently was confined to a closet in the apartment. Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the fire.
A portion of Washington Road was closed because of the fires.
