State Sen. Jim Ferlo announced on Wednesday that he donated $10,000 to Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's re-election campaign and is endorsing the mayor for another four-year term.

Ferlo said $8,000 came from his political action committee and $2,000 from personal funds.

“I'm not going to chance horses in midstream,” the Highland Park Democrat said. “I think the mayor and his administration have performed well.”

Ravenstahl is expected to face city Controller Michael Lamb and Councilman Bill Peduto in the May primary. State Auditor General Jack Wagner of Beechview also is considering whether to enter the race.

In September, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald donated $8,000 to Peduto's campaign.
