Police arrest man suspected of shooting another man in McKees Rocks
Allegheny County police on Thursday arrested one of the men they believe was involved in a shootout in McKees Rocks that left a man blind.
Brandon Reynolds, 26, turned himself in to his probation officer in East Liberty, county police Lt. Jeffrey Korczyk said. Police charged Reynolds with three counts of recklessly endangering another person and gun violations. Reynolds' last known address was in the Hill District, Korczyk said. Detectives were interviewing him on Thursday afternoon in county police headquarters in Point Breeze.
Reynolds might have fired the shot that hit Andre Palmer, 24, while the two were passengers in a car on Amelia Street near the Bottom Dollar store about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Korczyk said. A group of people outside the car started shooting at the ve-hicle, and Reynolds returned fire, Korczyk said.
“It's a possibility it was an accidental shooting.” Korczyk said, “They knew each other and appeared to be friends.”
Palmer was in the Bottom Dollar before he got into the car, but Korczyk said investigators “really don't know what precipitated the shooting.”
Palmer, who is recovering in Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side from a gunshot wound in the head, is not cooperating with investigators, Korczyk said. The gunshot blinded Palmer, he said.
