An elderly Ross man will stand trial on charges he stole $670,000 from his dead sister's trust, an Allegheny County judge ruled Wednesday.

West View District Judge Richard Opiela of West View held Byron Chadderdon, 85, for court on seven charges, including six felonies. He is scheduled for a formal arraignment on Nov. 28.

Police said Chadderdon, the executor of his sister's estate, took the money over seven years to pay his credit card debts. Chadderdon was supposed to be splitting the interest with his sister's son and grandson, who would under the terms of the trust are to have inherited the principal after Chadderdon's death.

Chadderdon's attorney, Rebecca Auld, said her client maintains his innocence.
