A Wilkinsburg woman who was shot by Pittsburgh police during a car chase that ended in the South Side filed a civil rights lawsuit Friday in federal court.

Lena Davenport, 49, was a passenger in the car when her son, Donald Burris Jr., 32, of Carnegie, led police on a five-mile chase from the borough to East Carson Street on Jan. 13. She is suing Homestead and two of its officers and Pittsburgh and four of its officers.

Pittsburgh police charged Burris with 15 counts including aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and fleeing police.

Homestead solicitor Bernard Schneider couldn't be reached for comment. Pittsburgh solicitor Dan Regan declined comment.
