Passenger traffic at Pittsburgh International Airport increased 1 percent in January from a year ago, breaking a nine-month streak of declines, the Allegheny County Airport Authority said Wednesday.
Pittsburgh had 558,411 passengers in January, up from 552,656 passengers in January 2012, authority data show. The last monthly increase was March 2012.
Airport spokeswoman JoAnn Jenny attributed the gain to airlines using larger planes with more seats on several routes. Airlines offered 137 average daily flights in January, one more than in January 2012, Jenny said.
