Two injured in wrong-way crash on Parkway East Monday morning

Investigators are trying to determine how a woman ended up driving the wrong way on the Parkway East and crashing into two vehicles early Monday.

“There's no solid indicators of where she got on,” state police Corporal Christopher Murray said. “They had no idea where she got on, and they haven't been able to talk to her.”

Kelsey Davis, 21, was transported to UPMC Mercy with serious injuries. An update on her condition was not available, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Davis was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 376 near the Oakland exit when she crashed into the GMC Envoy Christophe Taesch, 47, was driving west at about 3:50 a.m., state police said.

Taesch was in good condition at UPMC Presbyterian, the hospital spokeswoman said.

After hitting the SUV, Davis drifted into the front of a tractor trailer and came to a stop in the middle lane, state police said.

Murray said he expected investigators would review any video from cameras on the parkway that captured the crash and what led to it.

“It's pretty fortunate that no one was killed,” Murray said.
