'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

A new southbound Interstate 79 exit ramp to Route 228 in Cranberry is set to open at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

A new traffic signal in the area of the ramp will be activated. Motorists are encouraged to watch for changing traffic patterns, line painting and barrier removal.

The work is part of a larger project to add ramps leading from westbound Route 228 to I-79 to alleviate traffic congestion on Route 228.

It is scheduled to be completed later this year.
