Wreck causes traffic jam on southbound I-79

Rush-hour traffic along the southbound lanes of Interstate 79 was backed up for miles Wednesday because of a three-vehicle crash.

One person was taken to the hospital following the wreck that occurred at 5:24 p.m. near the Heidelberg or Collier exit, formerly known as the Kirwan Heights exit, Allegheny County emergency dispatchers said.

Traffic remained snarled after state police said the crash was cleared.
