Six occupants of a two-and-a-half story brick building in Perry South will have to seek shelter elsewhere because a fire damaged their apartment building Wednesday.

The two-alarm fire in the 2800 block of Perrysville Avenue was reported at 12:10 p.m. Pittsburgh firefighters extinguished it in about an hour. No one was injured.

Fire department officials said the fire started on the upper floor. Smoke and water damaged the first and second floors.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. Officials could not provide an estimate on the extent of the damage.
