Newsmaker: David Haas

David Haas, 21, of McDonald, was named by Heritage Action as the conservative organization's Pennsylvania North East Regional Coordinator.

Noteworthy: Heritage Action, the advocacy wing of the Washington-based Heritage Foundation think tank, has named Haas its North East Regional Coordinator for Pennsylvania. With a territory stretching from Erie down to Charles Town, W.V., west into Ohio and as far east as Altoona, Haas is charged with developing grassroots support for conservative policies from his headquarters in McKees Rocks. Age: 21

Residence: McDonald, Washington County Education: A senior majoring in Political Science at Penns State University's online World Campus Background: A native of Blakely in Lackawanna County, Haas is leaving his post as Pennsylvania State Chairman of Young Americans for Liberty, a conservative campus organization. A veteran organizer for several political campaigns, including Sam Rohrer's 2012 push for the U.S. Senate, Haas interned at the Yankee Institute for Public Policy and served as Blakely's Republican Party Committee Chairman before joining Heritage Action.
