'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The West End branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is scheduled to reopen Saturday with a community celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The library closed seven months ago for a $1.7 million renovation that included adding air conditioning, a new slate roof, an elevator and refurbished windows. The library closed several times last summer because of the heat.

The celebration features self-guided tours, 3D printing demonstrations, teen activities, crafts and a performance by the Pittsburgh Musical Theatre.

The renovations were paid for through the library's capital campaign funds.
