Six Pennsylvania American Water customers on Brook Street in Brookline will be without water until Saturday afternoon and will be provided with bottled water until their service is restored, utility spokesman Gary Lobaugh said.

Many South Hills residents were without water service or had low pressure for several hours Friday morning when a 42-inch water line broke.

The line began to leak around 4:30 a.m. Pennsylvania American Water discovered and reported it around 7:30 a.m., Lobaugh said.

Allegheny County reported water outages in Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, Green Tree, Baldwin Borough and Pittsburgh neighborhoods including Brookline, Beechview, South Side and Carrick.

Lobaugh said the break occurred on Brook Street in Brookline and crews would be working on repairing it until Saturday afternoon.

Utility spokeswoman Josephine Posti said other customers in the area had their service returned Friday morning.

“If they are experiencing any discoloration, we ask that they run their faucets for a few minutes until it is clear,” Posti said.
