'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

A man died after crashing his car into two trees in Beaver County on Sunday, state police said.

Lawrence William Daniel Schulz, 30, of Georgetown died at the scene of the wreck off Route 30 near Powell Road in Hanover, state police said.

Schulz was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer west on Route 30 about 8:20 p.m. when he missed a bend in the road, hit an embankment and went airborne, state police said. The vehicle hit a tree on the driver's side, then another on the passenger side, state police said. The vehicle came to rest about 14 feet north of the road, state police said, and Schulz was ejected.

Schulz was not wearing a seatbelt. No one else was hurt in the crash.
