West Mifflin coach accused of inappropriate contact with student
The West Mifflin Area School District has placed an assistant coach on administrative leave over accusations of inappropriate contact with a student.
The district is not identifying the coach but noted in a post on its Facebook page that the employee "is cooperating with our investigation."
District officials notified West Mifflin police, who are conducting a separate probe.
The district barred the coach from school grounds and having any contact with current or former students.
"We understand the severity of these allegations and are conducting a complete internal and external investigation to ensure that the situation is handled in totality," district officials said in a statement.
The district asked students and parents to "understand the seriousness and sensitivity of any matter involving a student and ask that you please respect their confidentiality."
"As unfortunate as this is, we all will stay committed to the responsibility we have to the students and community of the West Mifflin School District. Community and local resources are working together to continue to focus on a safe and healthy learning environment for all," district officials said.
