Four volunteer fire departments in Westmoreland County are among more than 50 in Western Pennsylvania that will receive donations from Chevron.

The corporation will donate $232,500 to volunteer fire departments in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The donations will be distributed among 76 first-response fire departments serving the areas where Chevron operates.

In Westmoreland County, Hutchinson Station 85 and Turkeytown departments will each receive $9,000; Rillton, $7,500; and Forbes Road, $1,500.

Other donations include $60,000 for fire departments in Fayette County; $36,000 in Greene County; and $24,000 in Washington County. Fire departments in Marshall County, W.Va., will share $42,000.

Chevron said fire departments will receive $1,500 for each of Chevron's well pads in the department's primary service area.

The company announced the donation during a symbolic check presentation at Republic Volunteer Fire Department in Fayette County, which received a donation of $10,500. Chevron has developed seven well pads in that department's service area.

In addition, Chevron has joined Wild Well Control Inc. to provide training to emergency responders to ensure they are adequately prepared to respond to a potential emergency at a well site. Training for fire companies in Chevron's operating area will be scheduled and conducted on an ongoing basis.

The first training session will be held on Oct. 23 and will be offered to emergency responders in Somerset and eastern Fayette County.
