State police at Uniontown closed a portion of West Crawford Avenue near the intersection with Ridge Boulevard in Dunbar Township for about 5 12 hours on Monday after a woman reportedly discovered what was thought to be a bomb under her vehicle.

Police said that at 8:36 a.m., the woman, whom they declined to identify, contacted police after she located what she believed was a bomb under her vehicle.

Troopers secured the area by blocking the roadways, evacuated neighbors and alerted neighboring schools to the potential threat.

The Allegheny County Bomb Squad arrived about 12:30 p.m. and took the suspected device, which was believed to possibly be a pipe bomb, to a safe area to attempt to detonate it.

The scene was cleared and the roadway reopened just before 2 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The incident is under investigation by state police at Uniontown as well as the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

As of press time, no suspects had been named and the victim's information was not being released by authorities.
