Driver charged after injuring pedestrian

An Armstrong County man faces charges after Indiana Borough police said he was driving drunk and struck a pedestrian.

The collision occurred in the 1200 block of Philadelphia Street Saturday at 2:09 a.m. The pedestrian, who was not identified by police, sustained head injuries and was taken to Conemaugh hospital.

Clayton Harold Toy, 20, of Elderton, is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, simple assault, purchasing alcohol as a minor and two counts of driving under the influence. He is being held in the Indiana County Jail on $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing before District Judge Guy Haberl is scheduled for Monday.
