Servicing community drives Meegan Ford
Meegan Ford is not just near Mt. Pleasant.
It's of Mt. Pleasant , too.
That is to say, the dealership - in existence for 50 years - is a part of the community it serves . That's not by accident.
For at least 15 years, Meegan Ford has been a major funder of the Mt. Pleasant Glass & Ethnic Festival . It recently donated a used police car to the Mt. Pleasant Borough Police Department . It sponsors football and baseball teams, car cruises, and a shooting event to raise money for cancer research.
And that's not all.
"If you're going to be in the community, it's important to be a part of the community," said general manager Chuck Smith.
"We like supporting the people who support us. And we do get a lot of community support. We really do."
The dealership generally tries to pick out some cause every month, Smith added. Those vary by intention.
"We often try to come up with something new, some different way to help out. We like to mix it up a little bit every now and again."
There's generally just one rule. Causes that get help are those where the money goes directly to those who need it.
"That's the key, really. We like helping out others, our neighbors, in a way that benefits all of us who live here," Smith said.
Meegan Ford has been under its current ownership for about 30 years. It's been an active charitable partner at least that long.
That's unlikely to change, either.
Smith said the people who live and work in the area have always been willing to help one another when called upon. Meegan Ford believes in those same values and remains committed to doing its part to promote a strong and vibrant region.
"There's a bunch of stuff we do like that. And we plan to keep doing it."
