Police allege Somerset man destroyed property

A Somerset man was jailed Tuesday on state police accusations that he was intoxicated and destroying property in a Lillian Lane home.

Jared Benjamin Knopsnyder, 24, was hiding behind a door with a filet knife when troopers arrived at about 4:17 a.m. After they disarmed Knopsnyder, troopers had to use “substantial force to overcome the resistance” from him, police said in a news release.

Knopsnyder faces charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct before District Judge Kenneth Johnson. He is free on $2,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
