'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

An unidentified driver was killed Tuesday morning in Somerset County when a pickup truck ran off the road and overturned in a creek in Jenner Township, state police at Somerset said.

County Coroner Wallace Miller said his office must obtain dental records to identify the victim, a process he does not anticipate will be complete until Wednesday.

The driver was southbound on Keyerstown Road about 11:30 a.m. when the Ford F-150 truck went off the road, crossed Wilson Road and went into Beaver Dam Run before overturning on its left side, state police said.

Jennerstown, Boswell and Acosta fire departments assisted police.
