'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

A Washington man died Sunday when his motorcycle went off a roadway in West Bethlehem Township and struck a ditch, throwing him from the bike, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said.

Victor J. Brova, 56, of East Beau Street, Washington, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Weaver School Road between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6:50 a.m. Sunday, when he went off the roadway from the northbound lane, Warco said.

Brova traveled 90 feet and struck a ditch before coming to rest in a grassy area 51 feet away. Brova, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was found by a family friend after searching in the area.

He was pronounced dead at 8:17 a.m.

Cause of death is pending an autopsy, Warco said.
