A Penn Township man under arrest for burglary allegedly urinated on the floor of the township police department while officers were processing him.

Ronald Eugene Venturella, 36, is facing charges for allegedly taking multiple items from a Long Drive home on Thursday. A witness reported to Westmoreland 911 at 6:25 p.m. that a man wearing a black knit cap and a dark coat was dragging a set of golf clubs from the residence, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed on Friday.

When Patrolman Nathan Johnston arrived, the man, later identified as Venturella, allegedly ran from the scene but was caught after a short pursuit.

Police found numerous items in Venturella's possession, including jewelry, Army uniform buttons, dog tags, tools, extension cords, stamps, a stainless steel coffee set, and personal documents with the homeowner's last name printed on them, according to the complaint. Police said the items are valued at $1,000.

Police found drawers open throughout the home, but Venturella told officers he found the items outside the house.

While police were processing Venturella at the police department, he allegedly removed his clothes, walked into a cell and shut the door.

“(He) proceeded to intentionally urinate out the cell door onto the hallway floor,” Detective Tod DeNillo wrote in the complaint.

Venturella is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and institutional vandalism. He was arraigned on Friday morning before District Judge Helen Kistler and lodged in the Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for March 11.
